Authority and The Milgram Experiments

Authority and The Milgram Experiments

Reading the book Small World by Mark Buchanan (American Scientist Review)lent
to me by Jerry Argyriou, I know this will be one of the many posts I
blog on about the book. Simply amazing, solid hard empirical evidence
on social networks.

Anyway the referrence to the Milgram Shock Experiments reminded me on the authority and willingness for individuals to follow.

The Abu Ghraib Prison Abuse
immediatly came to mind. Recently the stories coming out where a few of
the soldiers involved saying the practice made them ill at the time,
but they went a long with it.

It is sad really to scrape back our perceptions if dignity, honor
and self drivin autonomy and see really what human behavior is,
especially within social circles.

It is really amazing to understand the power of connections, the power of social circles and environment.
